. The Minister of Internal Affairs and Security, Mr. Abdalle Mohamed Arab, has made it clear: tribalism has no place in the future we are building. The government is taking bold steps to eliminate this divisive practice and is committed to fostering unity among all communities in Somaliland.
He stressed that the era of identifying ourselves by clans on public platforms is coming to an end. “We are not defined by tribal lines—we are defined by our shared identity as the people of Somaliland,” he said. The goal is clear: within a year, invoking clan affiliations in public discourse should no longer be a norm, but something to be ashamed of.
The new administration is calling on every citizen—especially the youth—to reject tribalism and embrace unity. “We grew up in inclusive communities. Let’s protect that spirit,” he reminded them. “Tribalism leads us nowhere. Unity is the foundation of every success we’ve had and every victory we hope to achieve.”
This is more than a political goal—it’s a social transformation. If we allow tribal divisions to persist, we risk losing the opportunity to write a better chapter in our history.
Let’s rise above the old ways. Let’s stand together. A united Somaliland is a stronger Somaliland.
